Umbrella Academy Curriculum Overview

At Umbrella Academy, we offer a curriculum that’s as unique as each child, blending traditional

academics, hands-on learning, and technology to foster growth across all areas.

1. Personalized Curriculum Options

Already have a curriculum that works well for your child? We’re happy to continue with it here!

For those seeking a custom approach, we evaluate each child deeply to find the

best fit, using resources like IXL, Lexia, Prodigy, Synthesis, Education.com, and more.

2. Quarterly State-Standardized Testing

We use MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) testing quarterly to track growth and ensure students are ready for new challenges. The results guide us in adjusting each student’s curriculum to keep them progressing.

3. Hands-On Learning

Learning comes to life with hands-on activities that build real-world skills:

â—‹ Math and Measurement: Through baking, building, and crafting.

â—‹ Science: Simple experiments, gardening, and environmental studies.

â—‹ Literacy: Storytelling, poetry writing, reading programs, and creative writing.

4. Technology-Enhanced Learning

Our students benefit from online learning tools like IXL and Lexia, where we track growth regularly to ensure everyone stays on the right path. Additionally, we offer Technology Class, where students learn to use tech productively to showcase their work, such as:

â—‹ The Novango Tree Audiobook: Students created an audiobook with illustrations.

â—‹ Commercial Creations: Students made commercials, integrating technology to share their ideas creatively.

5. 1:1 Support

Every student receives individualized support, helping them build confidence and master skills with one-on-one guidance from our dedicated teachers.

6. Workbook Integration

We also incorporate workbooks to ensure skill reinforcement and consistent learning in core subjects like math and literacy.

7. Skill Building in Personal Areas of Interest

We believe in nurturing each student’s unique interests and offer opportunities for them to explore personal passions, such as:

â—‹ Music

â—‹ LEGO Engineering

â—‹ 3D Printing and Design

â—‹ Botany and Plant Science

â—‹ Biology and Environmental Science

8. Flexible Approach and Access to Experts

Our curriculum is flexible, allowing us to incorporate personal goals and improvement areas for each child. We also bring in experts when needed to help students develop new skills in specialized areas of interest.

9. Life Skills and Leadership

Beyond academics, we focus on essential life skills:

â—‹ Financial Literacy: Budgeting and money management.

â—‹ Leadership: Building teamwork and decision-making skills through our

[Leadership Program](link to program overview).

â—‹ Art and Movement: Encouraging creativity and physical wellness.

â—‹ Field Trips and Exploration: Regular outings promote curiosity and community engagement.

Our well-rounded curriculum provides each child with the academic, practical, and personal skills they need to succeed and thrive.
